The pad cup in shades of purple

I love to drink a tea, I need pad cups all the time,  because it prevents soiling the table.  I don’t like the paper one, because it looks ugly very fast.

I made that pad cups as a gift for my friend, which, as me, loves purple.

I used yarn Rico Essentials Crochet Cotton and 1,75mm crochet hook.

The pattern looks like that and it’s quite fast to done:

As you can see, we have a whole pattern and a pattern with colors, which one I used and I will explain. To make a flat pad cup we should use a crochet hook with the number from tag yarn.

Abbreviations:

SC – Single Crochet

DC – Double Crochet

Ch – Chain

dc4tog – Double Crochet 4 stitches together (How to make these? A Tutorial)

dc5tog –  Double Crochet 5 stitches together

The whole start with 8 Chain. Make around 9 Single Crochet.

  1. CH 3, DC, *CH 3, DC 2* –  repeat ** 7 times, ending with CH 3 and  join with slip stitch.
  2. CH 3, DC 4 in the chain of the previous row, *CH 2, DC 5* – repeat ** 6 times, ending with CH 2 and  join with slip stitch.
  3. CH 3, DC 4 in the DC of the previous row, *CH 5, DC 5* – repeat ** 6 times, ending with CH 5 and  join with slip stitch.
  4. CH 3, dc4tog, *CH 7, SC in chain of the previous row, CH 7, dc5tog* –  repeat ** 6 times, ending with CH 7, SC, CH 7 and  join with slip stitch.
  5. Using 3 slip stitch go to the middle of the chain. *CH 9, SC* – repeat ** 13 times, ending with CH 9 and  join with slip stitch.
  6. CH 3, DC 10, *SC, DC 11* – repeat ** 6 times, ending with SC and  join with slip stitch.
  7. SC in every stitch, join with slip stitch.
  8. SC 6, picot, *SC 12, picot* – repeat ** 6 times, ending with SC 6 and  join with slip stitch.

I show how to join colours in that post: https://magicandcrochethook.wordpress.com/2015/03/07/colorful-bedspread-for-a-girl/

We hide yarns with the needle, to starch pad cups, you can just iron it under some fabric. It’s my favourite pattern for pad cups.
