Dream tunic – how to make – part I

In a previous post I posted the link to the pattern on the tunic. You can find it here.

To do this tunic  I used a crochet hook 2mm. Material is 100% cotton. Information about the yarn, which I used are from http://shop.vibesandscribes.ie/rico-essentials-cotton-double-knitting-50g/

Item weight: 50g
Blend: 100% Cotton

Tension: 22 stitches and 28 rows for a 10x10cm tension square using 4mm needles
Needle size: 4mm

The hardest part in making clothes is … made the good size. For this reason, I had to rip several times. I tried to make a sample and calculate the size of the repeat theme, but somehow it wasn’t right, so by trial and error I had come to the correct dimension. Women have a bit more of a problem than men … Body. Fortunately tunic is enough extended, so it hadn’t created new problem for me.
I had no clue how many threads I would need. It went about 11-13 threads. The cost of 40 €. On a regular basis I went to the store and bought.
To make this tunic, you have to start from bottom.

Most of the theme is a graphic tunic 1. It consists of six repeated rows and twelve stitches. To make a sample, perform a few themes and measure them, and then convert to the whole. Of course tunic is formed of separate parts such as front, back and 2 sleeves.

Abbreviations:

SC – Single Crochet

DC – Double Crochet

Ch – Chain

The first row is a chain consisting of a calculated amount of themes.

  1. Chain 8, in the 3rd stitch of the previous row  single crochet 3, each in a separate stitch, *chain 4, in the 5th stitch of the previous row double crochet 2 separated with chain 2, chain 4,  in the 5rd stitch of the previous row  single crochet 3, each in a separate stitch* – repeat ** the calculated amount, ending with chain 4, double crochet in 3rd stitch of previous row.
  2. Ch 8, *SC in the middle SC of the previous row, Ch 5, DC 5 in 2 stitches of previous row between DC 2, Ch 5* – repeat ** the calculated amount, ending with Ch 5, DC in 4th stitch of previous row.
  3. *Ch 5, SC 5, each separately in a DC of the previous row. * – repeat ** the calculated amount, ending with SC in the 3rd stitch of the previous row.
  4. Ch 5, *in the middle of chain of previous row DC 2 separated with Ch 2, Ch 4, SC 3 centered on SC 5 of the previous row, Ch 4. * – repeat ** the calculated amount, ending with Ch 4 in DC of the previous row.
  5. *Ch 5, DC 5 in 2 stitches of previous row between DC 2, Ch 5, SC in the middle SC of the previous row. * –  repeat ** the calculated amount, ending with Ch 5 in previous row with SC.
  6. *SC 5, each separately in a DC of the previous row, Ch 5. * – repeat ** the calculated amount, ending with Ch and DC in SC of the previous row.

Repeat the calculated amount in the order of 1 to 6. The next step is the graphic number 2, but I will explain it in the next post. Pay attention to how you start tunic, and when you will do the other side, move the theme half, so after stapled everything will fit nicely.
